The Whisk
Hand-carved from a single piece of purple bamboo, The Whisk, also known as a Chasen, is designed to create a smooth, even blend with a softly foamed finish. Its fine tines help suspend matcha in water, bringing ease and precision to each preparation. The Whisk is crafted in the traditional Shin style and is finished with Muracha’s signature green thread.
Before Use
Before use, soak the tines in warm water for 1–2 minutes. This softens the bamboo, allows the tines to gently open, and helps prevent breakage during whisking.
Cleaning
After each use, rinse The Whisk gently under running water until the matcha is removed. Use your fingers to carefully loosen any powder caught between the tines.
Do not soak. Do not place in the dishwasher. Avoid dish soap, heat, and dryers.
Storage
Allow The Whisk to air dry in a well-ventilated place. For best results, store it on a whisk stand to help preserve its shape. If you do not have a stand, rest it upright with the tines facing up.
When to Replace
With daily use, we recommend replacing The Whisk every 3–4 months. Over time, the fine bamboo tines will naturally soften, bend, or begin to break.
